Cape Hope Paragliding brings together a family team and experienced tandem instructors who know Cape Town’s flying sites. We share a love of the sport, a commitment to learning and the pleasure of introducing people to their first flight.
Francois began paragliding in 2007 and became a full-time pilot in 2016. Taught by his father, he went on to win the 2026 South African Nationals. His competition experience and years of tandem flying shape the way he leads the Cape Hope team.
Fielies started paragliding in 1995 and won the South African national title in 2006 and 2007. Known to many in the flying community as Pappa, he continues to share his local knowledge with passengers and fellow pilots.
Susan manages the operations side of Cape Hope Paragliding, helping the team bring each flying day together.
Our instructors include Roland de Vries and Francis Dudley de Klerk. Cape Hope won the team championship at the 2026 South African Nationals, with all four of our competing tandem instructors finishing in the top thirteen. Read the team’s championship story.
Our tandem instructors hold SAHPA qualifications and SACAA licences. Before your flight, your instructor assesses conditions and explains take-off and landing. No previous experience is needed; questions are welcome.
