No experience is required whatsoever. Our tandem paragliding flights are instructional flights — you fly with a fully licensed instructor who handles everything. Before takeoff, your instructor gives you a clear briefing covering exactly what to do for launch and landing. All you need to do is run a few steps and enjoy the ride.
Flight duration depends on the wind conditions on the day. Paragliding is weather-dependent, so we can’t guarantee an exact flight time. Most flights last 10 to 20 minutes; in very light wind a flight can be shorter. If conditions are smooth and safe, our instructors will always try to extend your flight.
There are flyable days in every season. Summer (November to March) brings the most consistent conditions and is our busiest period. Winter has fewer flyable days, but after a cold front passes the air is often clear and smooth, with some of the best visibility of the year. We explain this in our winter flying guide.
We launch from either Signal Hill or Lion’s Head depending on the wind direction on the day. We always meet at the very end of Signal Hill Road at the parking area, where our instructors assess conditions and decide the best launch site. Both offer spectacular views of Cape Town, Table Mountain, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Most flights land along the beachfront — usually at Sea Point or Clifton. It’s one of the highlights of the experience, touching down with the Atlantic right in front of you.
Yes. After landing on the beachfront, our team will collect you and your instructor and bring you back to where you started. You’re also welcome to arrange your own transport — an Uber from Sea Point or Clifton is quick and easy.
Yes. Small bags can be stowed in the harness and fly down with you. Larger bags will be sent down with our vehicle and waiting for you when you land.
The minimum age to fly with us is 14 years old. Guests under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a consent form. The maximum weight is 110kg. If you have any concerns, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
We have flown guests with a range of disabilities. Please contact us before booking to discuss your needs and whether we can accommodate you. Suitability depends on the individual circumstances and the conditions on the day.
Paragliding carries risk, including when flying with an instructor. Every one of our instructors is certified by SAHPA and licensed by the SACAA. We only fly in appropriate conditions and use properly maintained equipment. All guests are required to sign an indemnity form acknowledging the nature of the sport.
We monitor live wind stations around Signal Hill and Sea Point, together with detailed forecasts, before and during every flying day. Our instructors make the final call at the launch site, and if conditions are not right, we do not fly. You can see the same tools we use on our Weather & Safety Tools page.
Yes. All Cape Hope Paragliding instructors are fully certified Tandem Flight Instructors (TFIs) approved by SAHPA and licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA). We are a registered Declared Training Organisation — DTO No. SACAA/0058/DTO. Our team includes South African paragliding champions.
Paragliding is weather-dependent. If conditions are unsafe on your booked day, we will contact you to reschedule. This is why we recommend booking your flight for the beginning of your Cape Town trip — it gives us room to find an alternative slot if needed. If you need to reschedule yourself, please do so at least 24 hours before your booking to avoid losing your payment.
A tandem paragliding flight costs R1700 per person. In-flight GoPro photos and videos are an optional extra at R400. Booking online through our tandem paragliding page gives you instant confirmation, and you can reschedule or get a full refund if the weather prevents flying.
South African Residents’ Special: R1,450 per person until 30 November 2026. Book the special via WhatsApp and bring your SA ID to check-in. Optional photos and videos remain R400.

Yes — and most of our guests do! We use GoPro cameras to capture your entire flight from exciting angles. You can view the photos and video after landing with no obligation to purchase.
